A cinema chain has announced an opening date for the former Empire building in Catterick Garrison after spending the last few months renovating it.
Savoy Cinemas, who have resurrected the old Empire venue on Princes Gate Shopping Park on Richmond Road have said that film lovers won't have long to wait after revealing an opening date of September 27.
The cinema's reopening coincides with the release of some of the year’s most anticipated movies including the Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, along with Transformers One, The Wild Robot and Venom: The Last Dance - all set to hit the screen in October.
General Manager Rhys Fry, who has relocated from the company’s Corby location, said: “My team and I are thrilled to be involved in the reopening of the former Empire Cinema, which is opening just in time for an exciting lineup of blockbuster releases for the rest of the year.
"We have a dedicated team eager to deliver the Savoy experience to the people of Catterick and the surrounding areas, we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”
Over the past two months, the Savoy team has been preparing for the cinema's reopening, including the installation of new laser projection and sound systems which will enhance the overall cinematic experience.
Initially, four screens will reopen with the existing Empire seating, while the other three screens will be enhanced to introduce luxury seating options which will include faux leather rocker seats, electric recliners and double sofas.
Movie tickets will be available starting at just £4.99 until the new luxury upgrades are unveiled.
