A manhunt remains ongoing one day after an attack in a Darlington churchyard.

Police and paramedics were called to St Cuthbert's Church on Monday (September 16) afternoon after reports that a man had been assaulted.

A large emergency service response was pictured at the scene, with police taping off several paths in the churchyard and next to Tubwell Row and Stonebridge.

Durham Constabulary has confirmed that enquiries are still ongoing to locate the suspect.

The condition of the victim is not yet known - as they refused medical treatment at the scene.

As previously reported, at least five police cars and two ambulances were spotted near the church, with officers guarding the blue and white police tape while paramedics dealt with the incident.
