A popular coffee shop in Darlington will be shut until October, as the owners have gone on their honeymoon.

Echo 3, in Clarks Yard, Darlington, will be closed for more than two weeks, expected to reopen on Friday, October 4, as the owners are taking a break to celebrate their wedding.

Owners Kris and Helen Eland will reopen the coffee shop and bean roastery on Friday, October 4.

The pair said: "We will be closing at 12pm as we are going on our honeymoon!

"The cafe will be closed until Friday, October 4. We will be logging out of all social media and emails to really switch off so no messages will be responded to."

Echo 3 has built a name for itself on its delicious artisan coffee and baked goods opening in 2018.

The venue is also well-known for their Star Wars Day celebrations on May 4.

With the cafe named after the owners' love of Empire Strikes Back, keen fans of the sci-fi series queue up to attend Echo 3's yearly event, paying homage to the film saga and raising money for charity.
