A children's play centre in Darlington will close later this month after it cited 'rising costs' as the reason for shutting its doors to the public.
Gi Gi's Softplay, based at The Majestic on Bondgate in the town, revealed the closure, which will take place on September 30, in an emotional farewell message online.
The soft play area, which was under the name Magic and Mayhem Soft Play when it first opened at The Majestic in 2014, has become Gi Gi's Softplay in recent years - with the statement from the venue calling it a 'haven for fun and a place where friendships have blossomed'.
Through the announcement, the venue has thanked its staff, as well as visitors for its custom over the year.
In the statement, Gi Gi's said: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Gi Gi’s Softplay, effective September 30.
"This decision has not come easily, but due to rising costs that we simply cannot keep up with, we’ve had to make the incredibly difficult choice to close our doors.
We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our incredible team leaders; Andrea, Chloe, Sam, Rachel, Ryan, and Matthew, and to all our part time staff, past and present.
"You have been the heart and soul of Gi Gi’s, pouring your energy, creativity, and love into every shift, birthday party, and special event.
"Your dedication has brought joy to countless families, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
"You are more than just a team—you are family, and we love you all dearly. We couldn’t have come this far without you."
In the build-up to the closure, Gi Gi's says it is offering a special offer of £4 entry every day until they close on September 30 to "give everyone a chance to enjoy a few more fun-filled days at Gi Gi’s."

The statement added: "To our wonderful customers, thank you for being a part of our journey.
"The smiles and laughter of your little ones have made every challenge worth it.
"We have loved being a part of your children’s growth and memories, and we will cherish these moments forever.
"As we prepare to close this chapter, we want you to know Gi Gi’s Softplay has been more than just a business—it has been a community, a safe haven for fun and a place where friendships have blossomed.
"With love and gratitude."
