A former BBC presenter made a special cameo on Look North last night much to the delight of viewers.

Jeff Brown was back on our screens last night (September 16) and joined fellow presenter Nisha Joshi for Team Talk chatting all things football including a positive start to the season for Newcastle United.

Presenter Carol Malia started the segment and welcomed "a very lovely, very familiar face" back.

Nisha said: "Now, Jeff, we knew you couldn't stay away from us for too long - it's lovely to have you back in the studio."

Jeff, from Sunderland, smiled and replied that he is "happy to come off the subs bench", and later posted a selfie on social media with himself, Nisha and Carol.

This comes months after he departed the BBC after 20 years on May 24 - marking a final chapter for the TV personality.

On his final show, Mr Brown was emotional at the prospect of saying farewell to colleagues and viewers alike and issued a heartfelt statement after his final show.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, he said: "Just about held it together Been a joy to work with such a brilliant team @BBCNEandCumbria. Thanks for all your lovely messages - and for watching. On to the next chapter.

"The send-off from the Look North crew was amazing and so much appreciated, but the other last show highlight was talking to Stockton sub-postmaster Keith Bell, a victim of the Horizon IT scandal. Struggle to imagine what he has been through."

Since then, Mr Brown has been exploring new opportunities in broadcasting and in July featured on BBC Tees chatting about why he left Look North.
