Plans to expand an inclusive holiday park in County Durham have been approved by the council.

Haystax Holiday Park, in Knitsley, will see its holiday lodges reorganised to improve the site's layout.

The café on the premises will also be expanded to accommodate more visitors.

The reorganisation is also set to help separate the different uses of the site, such as accommodation and the café.

Despite the repositioning, the design, size, and scale of the lodges remain unchanged from the original plans.

The café on the site will be modestly extended to accommodate more visitors - an extension small enough not to significantly affect the appearance of the site from the outside.

The impacts of the café expansion are described as minimal in terms of visual impact, traffic, drainage, and materials.

The changes are minor and do not affect third parties or infrastructure like roads or pipelines.

The approved non-material amendment was confirmed by Durham County Council, stating that the changes do not affect the original planning permission, which still stands.

In a planning document, a spokesperson for Durham County Council said: "The proposed changes are considered to be minor and do not affect the overall design or scale of the lodges, only their positioning.

"The café extension is also modest and will not have any significant impact on the appearance of the site.

"The original planning permission remains in place, and the changes do not affect third parties or infrastructure."

Haystax describe their site on their website saying: "Our vision is to create a peaceful retreat for the whole family, where individuals with additional needs are welcomed and understood so that the whole family can relax and enjoy some quality time together."
