A teenager was left unconscious after a gang attack on a Middlesbrough street. 

Police and paramedics were called to Worcester Street on Sunday at around 5.43pm after a 17-year-old was reportedly assaulted by a large group of unknown males. 

A cordon was erected near Ayresome Primary School - with pictures from the scene showing crime scene investigators taking photos of several bottles and placing items in evidence bags.

Cleveland Police has confirmed that the victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for what are currently believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

An investigation has since been launched, with the force now appealing for anyone with information, doorbell, dashcam or private CCTV footage to get in touch. 

A North East Ambulance spokesperson previously said: "We received a call this evening at 17:32 to concerns for a person in the Worcester Street area of Middlesbrough.

"We sent one emergency ambulance crew and took a male patient to hospital for further treatment."

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "At approximately 5:43 pm yesterday, Sunday 15th September, we received a report that after being assaulted by a large group of unknown males, a teenage boy was unconscious in Worcester Street, Middlesbrough.
