A town’s new MP has metaphorically stepped back in time to visit an award-winning attraction which is helping to create a positive future for his constituency.
Kynren – An Epic Tale of England welcomed Bishop Auckland MP Sam Rushworth to experience the magic and majesty of the site and set for the expansive historic show.
Whilst visiting the outdoor theatrical production, set on a seven-and-a-half-acre outdoor stage and featuring a 1,000-strong cast and crew, Mr Rushworth met volunteers and joined the rest of the audience to watch the 90-minute spectacular.
Only elected as the new constituency MP after Labour’s triumph at the polls in July, Mr Rushworth referenced Kynren in his maiden parliamentary speech.
He praised volunteers involved in arts and culture across Bishop Auckland and described Kynren as, “England’s most spectacular outdoor theatre production.”
Kynren CEO Anna Warnecke believes recognition from such as local members of parliament, is invaluable to the team.
“MP Sam Rushworth has been incredibly supportive of Kynren and the impact organisations like ours have on local communities, and the cultural opportunities they can bring to rural areas.
“In his maiden speech in parliament, Mr Rushworth stated how the arts and culture scene here is, ‘not only developing talent but building the character and confidence of the rising generation’.
“We can only agree as we see young volunteers join Kynren and blossom into thriving cast members.”
She was speaking as the curtain came down on Kynren’s 2024 summer season on Saturday (September 14).
It has, again, welcomed thousands of visitors to watch legendary figures come to life in the show set against a backdrop of Auckland Castle.
