Firefighters are still tackling a large-scale fire at a North East industrial estate this afternoon - here is everything we know so far.

Multiple fire engines remain in Hartlepool this evening following reports of a fire in an industrial estate area.

Large volumes of smoke have been spotted and pictured by members of the public as firefighters continue to extinguish the flames.

Where is the fire?

The fire began on Mainsforth Terrace in Hartlepool in what appears to be an industrial estate area.

When did it start?

Cleveland Fire Brigade first received reports of the fire at 10:07am this morning (September 15).

How did the fire start?

The cause of the fire has not yet been established - nor whether anyone has been injured.

What does it look like?

Pictures and video of the scene obtained by The Northern Echo show vast plumes of smoke rising in to the air from what appears to be an industrial area.

What happens now?

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene until the early evening - and six fire engines are currently tackling the blaze.
