Three people were taken to hospital for treatment following a two-vehicle collision on a County Durham road today (Saturday, September 14).
Emergency services responded to reports of the crash on the B1283 Durham to Sherburn Village road, at 9.40am.
Four people, the driver and passenger of each vehicle, were attended to at the scene and three were then taken to the University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment.
The road was closed amid initial inquiries and highway clearance.
A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 09.40am today (14 SEP) to reports of a road traffic collision on the B1283 near Sherburn Village.

“We dispatched two paramedic crews, a rapid response doctor and a clinical team leader to the incident involving a total of four people in two vehicles.
“We treated three patients, for a head injury, a chest injury and a back injury before they were taken to hospital."
The road was later reopened after the damaged vehicles were removed.
