Here are a few of the people who were sentenced at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee Magistrates’ courts last week.
The ten offenders include those admitting drink and drug driving, a man carrying a knife and a man guilty of racially aggravated beating.
Stephen Drysdale, of Dalton Crescent, Shildon, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault by beating and racially aggravated intentional harassment on May 2 in Darlington. The 54-year-old was ordered to pay £100 in compensation and was fined £120.
Andrew Hardy, of Geneva Drive, Darlington, pleaded guilty to three counts of shop theft, including stealing a crate of beer from Sainsbury's on June 22 and again on June 26 and stealing food and lager on June 30. The 48-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation to the store.
Richard Segger, of Croft Road, Darlington, pleaded to drink driving when he was stopped on Neasham Road, Darlington, on August 28. The 40-year-old was banned from driving for a year and fined £666. He was given no additional penalty after admitting using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.
Kelly O'Neil, of Wellgarth, Evenwood, Bishop Auckland, admitted being drunk and disorderly in a public place on August 29 and an assault on an emergency worker, a police officer, during the arrest. The 45-year-old was given a 20-month conditional discharge and ordered to compensation of £50 to the officer.
Ellis Bleasby, of Clareville Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to driving with cocaine in his system on Neville Road in the town on June 17. The 18-year-old was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £80 and ordered to pay £117 in court costs.
Peter Stead, of Kings Mews, Easington Village, County Durham, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to surrender to court following his arrest on June 28 in Seaham. The 41-year-old was sentenced to 17 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, attend ten rehabilitation activity requirement days and was banned from driving for 18 months.

Danny McPhee, of Walton Heath, Darlington, pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker on August 10. The 22-year-old was fined £120 and ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the police officer.
David Thompson, of Holmside Avenue, Gateshead, admitted drink driving after he was stopped in the car park of The Black Horse, on Front Street, Tudhoe, on August 16. The 65-year-old was banned form driving for 17 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £133 in court costs.
Peter Harrison, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to carrying a knife in Darlington on September 10. The 44-year-old was jailed for four months.
Mark Vayro, of Main Road, Gainford, Darlington, pleaded guilty to drink driving after he was stopped in Tow Law on February 27. The 45-year-old was banned from driving for 44 months, fined £833 and ordered to pay £418 in court costs.
