A man's body has been found on the river bank after 999 calls were made to emergency services.
A man in his 60s was found dead by police officers and paramedics yesterday on the banks of the Tyne in Wylam, Northumberland.
They were called out just before 11 am on Thursday morning after receiving a report of concern for a man's welfare, near to Wylam Bridge.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the force does not believe that there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 11am yesterday (Thursday), we received a report of a concern for the welfare of a man close to Wylam Bridge, on the banks of the River Tyne.

“Emergency services attended and sadly the man aged in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The man's next of kin have been informed.
"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
