Police have arrested a man following reports of a "suspicious male" in a County Durham village.

Crook Police confirmed this evening (September 11) that a man was arrested following reports of a "suspicious male" along Hunwick Lines.

The man remains in custody and police have also confirmed that an investigation is being launched.

A full police statement reads: "Following reports of a suspicious male along Hunwick Lines shortly after 6pm today, a male has been arrested and is currently in custody and an investigation is ongoing.

"If you have any information or were witness to the incident please contact Durham Police on 101 quoting incident 300 of the 12th."
