Officers investigating a report of sexual assault in Newcastle city centre have released images of a man they would like to trace.

It was reported that the male victim was in Rusty’s Bar, in Times Square, between 11pm and 11.15pm on Saturday, July 20, when he was followed by another man while in the venue.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Despite telling the man he was not interested in speaking to him, the offender then grabbed the victim’s arm before touching the inner thigh of his leg without the victim’s consent.(Image: Northumbria Police)

"A number of enquiries have been carried out by officers since the report was first made.

"Today (Thursday), officers have released images of a man they would like to identify.

"He was in the area at the time the offence is reported to have taken place and officers believe he could assist with their enquiries.

"The man, or anyone who knows who he is, should send Northumbria Police a direct message on social media, use the live chat on the Force website or complete a crime update form."
