A bus stop has been left smashed up and four people injured after a bus crashed into it.
Stagecoach confirmed one of its double-deckers crashed into the shelter on Market Street in Newcastle shortly before midday on Wednesday.
Pictures show the sides of the bus shelter propped on their side on the floor after it was pulled out of its foundations.
An eyewitness said: “It looked like the bus clipped the bus stop and it just collapsed.”
Four people were taken to hospital at the RVI for treatment, the North East Ambulance Service said.
Stagecoach MD Steve Walker said: “We are currently investigating the accident which happened today on Market Street, Newcastle.
“While we are aware there are no serious injuries, our thoughts are with the four people that sustained injuries at the scene.”
