Police have launched an investigation after a woman was raped in a Middlesbrough Park.
Emergency services were called to Albert Park in the early hours of today (Wednesday, September 11) morning after a woman reported a rape.
A cordon was erected around the fountain at the centre of the park, with police and crime scene investigators both pictured at the scene this morning.
Cleveland Police say a male made off from the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace him - with the woman now being supported by specially trained officers.
The force has described the suspect as as a black male, about 30 years of age, of slim build, around 4fft 11ins to 5ft 2ins tall.
He was wearing a long, black parka jacket which is described as “scruffy” and he had his hood up, and was riding a pedal bike.
The man is believed to have been in the Gresham area prior to the incident, in the areas of Parliament Road, Linthorpe Road, Granville Road, Woodlands Road and Park Lane.
A police spokesperson: "Around 4am today, Wednesday, September 11, a woman reported a rape in Albert Park in Middlesbrough.
"A male made off from the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace him. The woman is being supported by specially trained officers.
"The suspect is described as a black male, around 30 years of age, of slim build, around 4ft 11ins to 5ft 2ins tall, wearing a long, black parka jacket which is described as “scruffy” and he had his hood up. He was riding a pedal bike.
"The man is believed to have been in the Gresham area prior to the incident; in the areas of Parliament Road, Linthorpe Road, Granville Road, Woodlands Road and Park Lane.

"Officers would appeal to anyone in these areas to check private CCTV footage for a male matching the description.
"Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on 101, quoting reference number 175064."
