A person has died after being tragically hit by a train in Northallerton.
Emergency services were called to Northallerton Railway Station on Monday morning after reports of a casualty on the tracks.
The incident sparked a major rail disruption on the East Coast Mainline, with all lines being closed after 11.35am.
British Transport Police has now confirmed that a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A file will now be prepared for the Coroner.
As previously reported, services between Darlington, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, and York were unable to operate, with rail replacement transport services put in operation.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Northallerton railway station at around 11.35am on Monday (9 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
