A man has been arrested following two alleged rapes in Stockton.

Officers were called to Yarm Road, near the Oxbridge Lane junction, after two reports of rape - one on Saturday, September 7, and another on Sunday, September 8.

The first incident took place between 11pm and 12am on Saturday, when a woman was reportedly raped in an alleyway on the street. A short time later, at around 12.30am the following day, a second woman was reportedly raped at the same location.

A cordon was erected at a boarded-up property on Sunday, with pictures from the scene showing police and crime scene investigators placing evidence markers behind police tape.

On Monday, Cleveland Police released the image of a man they believed may have "vital" information on the incident.

The force has today (September 10) confirmed that a 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the two reports of rape and remains in police custody.
