A TV presenter dropped in to open a County Durham show over the weekend after he was photographed along with the judges and organisers of the event.

As people gathered for this year's North East Horticultural Society Show at Beamish Museum on Saturday (September 7), a familiar face was seen at the opening of the event.

Pictured with several others at the Show over the weekend, Robson Green was seen enjoying the event and greeting those who had made the trip to Beamish.

The TV presenter is well known for his roles in Casualty, before creating his own shows, such as Extreme Fishing with Robson Green and his most recent programme, The Amazon with Robson Green.

Hailing from Hexham in Northumberland, Robson is something of a cult hero in the region and still has strong links to Northumberland and the wider North East.

Alongside the broadcaster's appearance at the show, there were the usual competitions at the event, including flowers, veg, and livestock classes.

As well as Robson Green opening the event, which was visited by thousands, he was joined by councillor Joan Nicholason, chair lady of Durham County Council.

With a backdrop of Beamish Museum giving the event a historic feel, Medwyn Williams (President of the National Vegetable Society) did a presentation about winning 15 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show.

The presentation from Medwyn took place in Beamish's newly opened 1950s cinema. This presentation will take place in the newly opened 1950s cinema, which is a spectacle in itself.
