The body of a man has been found in Ingleby Barwick in the search for a missing 21-year-old. 

Officers were called to a property in the area of the housing estate on Monday, September 9, after reports that a body had been discovered. 

While no formal identification has taken place, the family of missing Tom Lambert, from Billingham, has been informed. 

Cleveland Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will now be prepared for the Coroner.

The force said: "On Monday 9th September, police attended a report of the body of a man found in a property in the Ingleby Barwick area.

"Whilst no formal identification has yet taken place, police have informed the family of missing 21-year-old Tom Lambert from Billingham and our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner."
