An investigation remains ongoing five months after an industrial accident killed a Darlington man, the Health and Safety Executive have confirmed. 

The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, died at Macadams car recovery garage on Boroughbridge Road in Ripon on March 29 this year.

Ambulance, air ambulance, fire and police teams all attended the incident, with North Yorkshire Police confirming at the time that the man had died at the scene.

At the time, a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "We responded to a fatal industrial accident at a vehicle recovery garage on Boroughbridge Road in Ripon on Friday (29 March 2024).

"It happened at around 8am and resulted in the death of a man aged in his 30s from the Darlington area.

"He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by the police. 

"Ambulance, air ambulance, fire and police teams were in attendance.

"We are assisting the accident investigation led by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)."

Since the fatal industrial accident, HSE and the police have been undertaking an investigation.

On Friday (September 6), HSE confirmed that the investigation was ongoing five months after the fatal accident and that investigations from the Health and Safety Executive could take up to 12 months. 

In an update, a HSE spokesperson said: "The investigation remains ongoing. HSE aims to have the majority of its investigations concluded within 12 months."
