From gentle giants to sensitive souls, Darlington Dog’s Trust is home to an array of adorable pooches looking for their forever homes.

If you’re looking for a new furry addition to the family, then the welfare charity’s Darlington location is certainly a place to start.

Whether you want to take home a charming older dog like Leo or a beautiful but shy German Shepherd Dog Cross, there’s plenty of adorable four-legged friends to choose from.

We’ve put together a list of nine dogs currently looking for a loving home to join soon:

Norville, Pyrenean Mountain Dog

Known affectionately as the "BFG," Norville, a 5-7-year-old Pyrenean Mountain Dog, is a gentle giant with a heart as big as his stature.

Norville is friendly with people and can live with primary and secondary school-aged children. While his doggy social skills are still a work in progress, he may share a home with another dog pending successful introductions.

Norville enjoys company and would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day to help him settle in.

A garden would be ideal for this big lad to enjoy sniffing and pottering around.

Norville does have hip dysplasia, requiring ongoing medical care, but his sweet and friendly nature makes him an amazing addition to any family.

Leo, Terrier (Jack Russell) Cross

Leo, an 8+ year-old Terrier (Jack Russell) Cross, is a charming older gentleman looking for a quiet retirement home.

Initially shy, Leo warms up quickly once he feels comfortable. He would do best in a home with older teens, as younger children might be too much for him.

Leo enjoys the simple pleasures in life—pottering around the block and being in the company of his favorite people.

Although he prefers to be the only dog at home, he does enjoy the company of similarly sized pooch pals for walks. Leo is looking forward to a home where he can relax and enjoy the companionship of a loving family.

Loki, English Springer Spaniel

Two-year-old Loki, an English Springer Spaniel, is bursting with energy and excitement.

He is looking for a family who can match his enthusiasm for life and is willing to continue his training. Loki would thrive in a home with older teens and as the only dog, though he loves having doggy pals for walks.

His ideal family will need to be dedicated and patient as he transitions to his new home. Loki is a fan of the beach, where he loves to paddle in the sea, and he would make a wonderful companion for an active family ready for plenty of adventures.

Blain, Lurcher Cross

Blain, a 1-2-year-old Lurcher Cross, is a sensitive lad with a loving personality.

He needs a peaceful environment with older children and a patient family to help him build confidence. Blain is very much a companion dog who prefers to stay by your side.

He enjoys a secure garden where he can play and lounge, and his food-driven nature makes him easy to train. With a bit of patience, Blain will reward his new family with his affectionate and gentle nature.

Tucker, Lurcher

Tucker, another 1-2-year-old Lurcher, is a playful and fun-loving dog who thrives on games and exploration.

Although he can be reactive to other dogs, Tucker is making great progress with his social skills and could potentially live with another dog if carefully introduced.

He would do well in a home with older children (11+) and someone who can be with him most of the day. Tucker loves car rides and exploring new places, making him a perfect companion for a family who enjoys outdoor adventures.

Bracken, Cocker Spaniel

Bracken, a 5-7-year-old Cocker Spaniel, is a sweet and affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with his people.

With patient and loving owners, Bracken’s true personality will shine, making him a wonderful companion for those willing to invest the time to build a trusting relationship.

Polly, German Shepherd Dog Cross

Polly, a 1-2-year-old German Shepherd Dog Cross, is a beautiful young girl who needs a calm and patient home.

She can be overwhelmed by too many visitors and is best suited to a home with older teens and no other pets.

Polly's new family will need to help her build confidence through training and gradual introductions to new situations. Once she feels safe, Polly is incredibly affectionate and will be a loving addition to the right home.

Mac, Crossbreed

Mac, a 5-7-year-old Crossbreed, is a sensitive and handsome boy who needs a quiet, adult-only home. He enjoys exploring quiet areas and playing with his toys.
