A Hartlepool building society branch is set to undergo a refurbishment as part of a multi-million-pound investment.

The refurbishment  at Newcastle Building Society's Hartlepool branch, starting Tuesday 10 September, is set to last two months and is part of the bank’s ongoing multi-million-pound investment which chief Customer officer Newcastle Building Society said has had a “positive impact."

Michael Conville added: “We understand from our members that they truly value a physical branch with its face-to-face, friendly personal service, and appreciate the positive impact a branch can have on its local community.”

He added: “That’s why we’re investing in our branch network – modernising our existing premises while also finding new ways to help keep face-to-face financial services in our communities.”#

The refurbishment and redesign at their Hartlepool branch will include a community room for free to use for charities and community groups.  Already offering 15 community groups across its branch network home to local groups, the Newcastle Building Society has demonstrated a commitment not only to its customers, but to the wider communities their branches serve.

NBS CEO, Michael Conville said: “The refurbishment of our Hartlepool branch is yet another example of how we’re enhancing our branch facilities by creating engaging, accessible spaces for our customers, while underlining our commitment to high streets across the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.”

A ‘pop-up-branch’ will open Wednesday 11 September until the main branch refurbishments are finished in order to continue access to face-to-face financial services. The ‘pop-up-branch’ will be located at Community Hub Central across from the current Hartlepool branch. NBS hopes this will demonstrate their commitment to providing its customers with in-person financial information and advice.
