Police are urgently searching for two small children seen walking along a road as concerns for their safety mount.

A boy and girl were last spotted in the Hawsker area near Whitby along Back Lane.

Police say the pair are reportedly under the age of 10 and possibly six or seven years old.

They were not wearing shoes and the weather conditions are cold and foggy.

Police say they are searching the area and are concerned for the safety of the children.

A spokesperson said: “If you believe these are your children and they have arrived home safe, or they are still missing, please call us urgently and let us know.

“Anyone who has seen the children or is with them now is asked to call us on 999.

“Incident number 365 of 5 September.”
