A restaurant is offering Great North Run finishers free steak when they show their medal.
Gaucho Steakhouse in Newcastle is offering free meals to “recognise the incredible efforts of the Great North Runners”.
The annual half-marathon takes place on Sunday (September 8) with thousands set to pound the tarmac from Newcastle to South Shields.
Gaucho has said it will offer free steak to everyone who completes the race, including the last finisher who they will invite for a slap-up meal and drinks for them and three friends.
Staff will also give out prizes to runners at the finish line including free cocktails and vouchers.
The steakhouse opened in March 2023 on the corner of Market Street and Pilgrim Street in the former Virgin Money building, offering Argentinian cuts of beef from the Pampas region.
