More images of how a retail park will look once it's built have been revealed with further details of the venue after Sainsbury's, Burger King and Starbucks were confirmed as the first names.

The images, released by Northumberland Estates, show the large Sainsbury's store and the car park area of Wynyard Retail Park in Stockton.

Gaining planning permission earlier this year, it's believed that the first phase of development is expected to start in May 2024 with the site set to be fully operational by May 2025.

Already, deals with Sainsbury's, Burger King and Starbucks have been signed - and they are expected to be the first tenants at the retail park.

And, off the back of those three signing on the dotted line, further images and details have been released.

This includes that phase two of the project will include signing up more big names, as well as a trade park being built alongside.

A statement from Northumberland Estates said: "Wynyard Retail Park is a new commercial development offering high-quality retail space anchored by a 48,330 sq ft Sainsbury’s food store.

"Starbucks and Burger King will complete the Phase I line-up. Phase II will comprise a further 66,000 sq ft of retail accommodation across a range of unit sizes.

"Bespoke units can be delivered from 5,000 sq ft to 40,000 sq ft. The Retail Park will be complemented by a new Trade Park, totalling 79,000 sq ft."

This will be alongside the fact that 344 car park spaces will be added in phase one and 206 car park spaces will be added in phase two.

In plans for the Wynyard Retail Park site, two large units and three smaller units can be seen on the Northumberland Estates 'masterplan' for phase two.

In the same document, there is also a part of the plans, which says: "Expression of interest are invited for proposed phase 2 which will provide an additional 66,000 sq.ft. (6,183 sq.m.) of retail."

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said previously: “We’re delighted to confirm that we’re bringing a brand new Sainsbury’s supermarket to Wynyard Business Park, representing a major investment in the region and creating new jobs.

"We have an unbeatable combination of quality fresh food, competitive prices, innovative products, useful bright ideas and enthusiastic people, which will all help us to bring good food to more of our customers in and around Tees Valley.”

Anthony Cape, Senior Asset Manager at Northumberland Estates, has hinted at releasing the names of more brands at the retail park soon.

He said: “We have seen really strong interest from businesses in the trade and retail sectors for this new development, and we hope to be in the position to confirm details of some of those occupiers in the coming months.”
