A Darlington restaurant has been named in the top 10 of North East venues.

Sliceburg, which is based on West Auckland Road in Darlington, has been listed as one of ten exceptional restaurants as part of the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Awards 2024, to spotlight and champion small restaurant businesses across the UK for the third year in a row.

The Darlington restaurant, which opened within the last year, is renowned for its smash burgers, fries and other delights - which customers can enjoy eat-in or takeaway.

Alongside Sliceburg, nine other restaurants have been shortlisted in the North East as becoming the best in the region.

This year, Uber Eats is going bigger than ever, as chef, television and radio broadcaster Andi Oliver joins the esteemed judging panel.

Andi is set to bring her warmth and expertise to this year’s panel and infuse the Awards with her love of food, community and connection.

The shortlist for North East includes:

  • Davey’s UK
  • My Delhi
  • Pizza Globe
  • Grill N Chill
  • Geisha Asia
  • 40 Ounce
  • Little Lobo
  • Pho 179
  • Dot Bagel

Over 40 cuisine types are represented within the 130 restaurants that will be going head-to-head for the £100,000 grand prize in November.

But first, food lovers across the UK and Ireland can visit ubereatsawards.com to vote for their favourite shortlisted restaurants until October 4.

Finalists will then be invited to create their hero dish for the panel of expert judges, which will decide who walks away with £100,000 to invest in their business.

To show their commitment to the industry, Uber Eats is also offering all regional winners a £5,000 prize alongside a support package to help accelerate their businesses' growth.

Matthew Price, general manager UK, Ireland and Northern Europe at Uber Eats, said “We created the Restaurant of the Year Awards to spotlight the very best independent restaurants across the UK and Ireland.
