A man has suffered serious head injuries believed to be from a fall after police were called to a shopping parade.
Police were called to Eastbourne Road in the Grove Hill area on Tuesday (September 3) morning to what they described as “reports of unknown people inside a building”.
A cordon was in place this morning with police and several ambulance vehicles at the scene.
Police confirmed a man suffered serious head injuries consistent with having fallen from a height.
He was rushed to hospital by paramedics where he remains in a stable, non-life-threatening condition.
Cleveland Police said they had referred themselves to the police watchdog over the incident.
A spokesperson said: “A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as the incident followed police being at the scene.”
