Darlington's Misfit Market took to the town today, proving popular as hundreds of customers visited to browse the range of alternative art and handmade goods on offer.

More than 40 "weird and wonderful" stalls of unique local traders will be selling clothing, homeware, artwork, jewellery, gifts and curiosities, as well as tarot readings and live music.

The Market will be back again tomorrow - open from 11am in Darlington's Market Square. It is an expansion of the Thursday Misfit Markets, held in Darlington's indoor market on the first Thursday of every month.

Melanie Bennison, owner of Rage & Love and co-founder of the Misfit Market alongside her husband Mike, expressed her excitement about the event's success.

She said: "The council asked us to organize a mega-market, so that's what we're doing today.

"We've got four bands playing live music all day, tarot readings, as well as a bar, and food.
