Fashion firm Mango has opened its biggest store in the region to date.

The Spanish retailer has launched its latest branch at the Metrocentre, in Gateshead, in the shopping centre's Lower Red Mall, on Friday (August 30).

Inspired by the latest fashion trends with a Mediterranean twist, Mango is now stocking clothing ranges for both men and women in its new North East location.

Located next to Jo Malone and within touching distance of Zara and Flannels, the new 6,233 sq ft unit has been months in the making, with boards being put up in the centre in June.

Mango will soon be opening yet another North East store later this year at Teesside Park, with bosses confirming in July that it would be taking over a section of Unit 21A, the former H&M.

Mango joins other new chains at the Metrocentre including  fast food eatery German Doner Kebab, escape room The Escapologist, and global beauty brand Sephora.

Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, previously said: “Introducing Mango to Metrocentre brings an added dimension to an already compelling fashion offer.

“Mango will be a highly complementary addition to our Red Mall line up, which has seen significant investment and an abundance of new commitments over the last twelve months.

“We prove time and time again that we really are the go-to destination for retail, and we look forward to seeing Mango thrive here at Metrocentre.”
