It's a new era for Teesside institution Triads as it finally opens the doors to its new Yarm shop.
The firm - which first launched in 1988 - waved goodbye to Middlesbrough this year after over three decades in the town as it looked to bring its designer touch to the High Street cobbles.
After months of refurbishment works at the former Bauer at Home, Triads opened the doors for the first time on Saturday, August 24.
Thousands of pounds have been spent on renovating the site, with two new advertisement boards being put up and a sleek new LED logo light.
There are also some familiar features that have been brought over from Triads’ previous store on 54-56 Albert Road - including several clothing racks, which cost £2,500 each when they were first bought in 2002.
“It’s been steady ever since we opened", owner Abigail Donaldson told The Northern Echo this week. "It’s busier here than in Middlesbrough.
“We have seen a lot more people browsing during the day then after 3pm we start seeing some more sales. It’s going well - I do think so people don’t know we’re here yet!”
Abigail, who is originally from Nunthorpe, took over the business in January - but has long had an interest having got her first job at Triads as a 16-year-old.
She’s since gone on to study a business and fashion degree at Teesside University - and was working as manager of Triads before taking the reins.
The business - which previously had several stores in the town including on Linthorpe Road - also launched its new website last August, which stocks a huge range of designer clothes with brands online including Fred Perry, Boss, D Squared2, and Billionaire Boys Club.
The Yarm shop - which employs four staff members - is already stocking names such as Carhartt, BIRKENSTOCK, and Stone Island.
There are more in the pipeline too, with Ralph Lauren set to be stocked before Christmas.
A string of other chains are also on the way in time for next summer, with both Napapijri and Les Deux all set to stock their new summer 2025 lines early next year.
Despite the Yarm store being significantly smaller than Triads’ former Middlesbrough home, 23-year-old Abigail said the new location is perfect for those who want to grab something for their next night out while passing by.
“We’ve had a lot of browsers come in and say they will pop back for Christmas, or get a gift card. We’re doing better at 6pm so we may change the opening times in future,” she added.
When Triads first announced the move to Yarm, a spokesperson said that a store “gaining much more footfall” would be more beneficial to the business.
Abigail admitted she had “mixed feelings” about making such a big move: “We were nervous to join at first… but we feel like we do just fit in

“All the neighbours and businesses have been so lovely and friendly. We have got the odd comment about being a small store but we are on Yarm High Street.”
As well as the store, Triads also provides a tailored service to its customers, “setting it apart” from other major retailers, and offers local pickups - meaning clothing not stocked at the Yarm site can be ordered in.
Triads is currently open from Monday to Thursday between 10am - 6pm, on Friday and Saturday from 10am until 8pm, and on Sunday from 11am until 4pm.
