One person has been taken to hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Durham.
Police and paramedics were called to the A690 at Stonebridge, near The Stonebridge Inn Pub, on Wednesday after a collision around 12.30pm.
The busy road was closed in both directions and motorists were urged to avoid the area - with AA Traffic News reporting "heavy traffic" at the time of the incident.
The North East Ambulance Service has now confirmed that one person has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle. Their condition is not currently known.
As previously reported, traffic site Inrix reported just before 2pm that the closure length of the road had increased, as indicated by road sensors.
A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic collision this afternoon (29 August) on A690 in Durham shortly before 12:30pm.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew, one HART crew, and one clinical team leader to the incident. One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary."
Durham Constabulary said: ""Police were called at 12.30pm today to a one-vehicle collision on the A690 at Stonebridge, in Durham.
"The road has been closed while emergency services work at the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
