A man in a wheelchair was left with multiple dislocated joints after he was hit by a motorbike in a park. 

On Wednesday, a motorbike sped through the Fairy Dell Park, in Marton, Middlesbrough, hitting a man in an electric wheelchair. 

The driver and rear passenger made off from the scheme, and the 26-year-old victim was taken to James Cook University Hospital for a number of dislocated joints. 

Now, officers from Cleveland Police are appealing for any information regarding the bike or those riding it. 

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a motorbike collided with a man using a wheelchair in Fairy Dell Park in Marton, Middlesbrough.

"The incident happened around 3:10pm on Wednesday 28th August as the 26-year-old man made his way through the park in his electric wheelchair, which he uses due to a medical condition.

"The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a number of dislocated joints, including a dislocated knee-cap, and was treated at hospital before being released yesterday evening.

"The motorbike made off from the scene. The rear passenger was described as wearing a distinctive sky blue durag.

"Officers believe there may have been others in the park at the time of the incident."
