An investigation has been launched into the "unexplained" death of a woman in Stockton.

Emergency services were called to a property on Ingleton Road, in Hardwick, on Sunday after a woman arrived at hospital with injuries at around 3am.

Pictures from the scene on Sunday showed CSI teams wearing purple gloves probing the front garden of the home, with eyewitnesses reporting seeing officers carrying out door-to-door enquiries throughout the day.

Cleveland Police has now confirmed that the woman, aged 67, sadly died on Tuesday, August 27.

Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation remains ongoing.

The force previously launched an probe to establish the circumstances surround the woman's injuries, after she arrived at hospital via ambulance.

A spokesperson also confirmed a search of the address had taken place.

One resident told The Northern Echo how she first noticed the police activity outside the property "when she woke up" on Sunday morning.
