JD Gyms has cut the ribbon on its sparkling new Teesside gym - packed full of “world-class” facilities including a sauna and a sled track.
“Fitness just got serious” at Preston Farm Industrial Estate as the major chain launches its new 18,000 sq ft facility after months of transformation work.
Located in the former TruGym, which has been closed since May 2023, the 24/7 JD Gyms now boasts everything from an Eleiko functional zone and sled track to a dedicated glute area.
First pictures from inside JD Gyms Stockton South show off the hundreds of pieces of equipment on offer, including squat racks, a free weights zone, and an Eleiko functional zone.
The gym is also decked out with plenty of mirrors and LED lights, as well as a special JD Studio with another selection of free weights and other equipment.
The mezzanine area of the gym features a range of cardio equipment, from running and rowing machines to bikes, as well as a dedicated tone area for core workouts.
Doors opened to the site at 10am on Wednesday, August 28, with would-be members also invited to swing by the day before to get a feel for the new gym.
The gym will now host hundreds of classes a month for members, including its bespoke HIIT bootcamp concept aptly titled JD Burn.
The JD Gyms unit has been months in the making, following the sudden closure of TruGym last year, which came just months after the chain increased fees following the Covid pandemic and cost of living crisis.
CEO of JD Gyms, Alun Peacock, previously said: “Stockton-on-Tees is a fantastic location for us, and we're pleased to be able to offer people in the area a brand-new fitness facility after the closure of TruGym.

“We’re excited to be opening a world-class gym that’s unlike anything else that the area currently offers.”
The gym also has a pre-opening offer up for grabs for a limited time only - with fitness fanatics able to get their first month for £5, then £21.99 per month, with no contract or joining fee.
