A man has been jailed for 16 weeks after stealing a wallet and a motorbike in Redcar.

He stole a wallet from a car and then used a bank card to buy items for himself before being arrested by Redcar Police.

Jack Nawton from Dormanstown was arrested by the team on Friday 23rd August in connection with the theft which occurred on Tweed Road, Redcar, the day before.

A Redcar Police spokesperson said: "He was also wanted on prison recall. Whilst at the address, the team also recovered a motorbike which was reported stolen two days earlier.  

"The 24-year-old was arrested and charged with theft from a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and fraud by false representation.

"He appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on 24th August where he pleaded guilty to all offences and he was jailed for 16 weeks."
