A motorcyclist has died after crashing with a double-decker bus and a car.

The collision involving a green Kawasaki and silver Volovo happened at 7.20pm on Friday (August 23) on the B1222 between South Milford and Sherburn-in-Elmet in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police the motorcycle was heading towards Squire’s Café from Sherburn-in-Elmet, while a silver Volvo was travelling in the same direction and an Arriva double-decker bus heading in the opposite direction.

The spokesperson said: “Sadly, the motorccyclist was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His family have been informed. The road was reopened around 6.30am.

“Our thanks go to members of the public who stopped to assist at the scene."

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward to help the investigation.

“Anyone who saw the vehicles involved prior to the collision, has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, or witnessed the collision and hasn't yet spoke with officers is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police's Major Collision Investigation Team via 101 or mcit@northyorkshire.police.uk.
