What did iNews say about the Durham Coastal Footpath?

The publisher explained: “Durham only has 17km of seashore, which means it’s possible to hike the whole county’s coast in a day.

“This was coal mining country, and the route is a fascinating mix of industrial heritage and rejuvenating nature.

“Walking south from Seaham to Crimdon’s dunes, the route climbs cliffs – such as panoramic Nose’s Point – and dips into denes, steep-sided ravines that cut to the sea.

“It also passes abandoned collieries and former mining villages, full of fascinating tales.”

The walk from Seaham to Crimdon follows the England Coast Path National Trail.

In total, it’s 11 miles long and adventurers can discover “spectacular grasslands, magical coastal denes and uncover the rich heritage that has shaped this coastline into a unique and fascinating place to be,” according to the Durham Heritage Coast website.
