Darlington tip has been forced to close today, as strong winds batter the region.
The town is experiencing gusts of up to 30mph, and a yellow weather warning has been put in place for parts of the North East.
The council have decided that it would be best to close the tip as a safety precaution.
They hope to reopen it tomorrow morning and have apologised for any inconvenience.

A spokesperson for Darlington Borough Council said: "The Household Waste Recycling Centre (Tip) is closed this morning (Thursday 22 August) due to the high winds.
"We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day and will provide an update if/when the wind speed reduces.
"Apologies for any inconvenience."
