A four-car collision saw the motorway through County Durham blocked yesterday. 

A crash between four vehicles near Bowburn brought the A1(M) to a standstill just after 5pm yesterday (Tuesday, August 20), with queues on the northbound carriageway stretching back to the A698 junction. 

Thankfully, though the crash caused delays til just after 7pm, no one involved sustained any injuries.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called shortly after 5.25pm yesterday (August 20) to a collision involving four cars on the A1(M) northbound just after the Bowburn junction.

"Thankfully, nobody sustained any injuries during the incident.

"The road was blocked for a short time while the vehicles were recovered."
