It is set to be an overcast and wet day in Darlington and across the North East today as the Met Office predicts high temperatures as well as a significant amount of rain.

As summer begins to draw to a close, temperatures still remain relatively high but rain is creeping in as Met Office forecasters predict a near 100% chance of heavy showers today (August 19).

The region can expect to see highs of 19C coupled with a increasing chance of showers from 3pm onwards.

Following this wet start to the week, the forecaster has also stated that “wet and windy” conditions should be expected from Wednesday to Friday.

The forecaster predicts: “A dry start with sunny spells. Cloud thickening, however, with outbreaks of light rain in the northwest from late morning.

“Wind strengthening into the afternoon, with rain becoming persistent and occasionally heavy by late afternoon. Maximum temperature 19 °C.”
