A group of teenagers who were swigging bottles of Budweiser and cans of Strongbow 'took over' a patch of County Durham land over the weekend before council officials dispersed them.

The teens, who had travelled to the Cricket Pavilion in Durham City, were confronted by Durham County Council wardens after reports of a large group of teenagers engaging in anti-social behaviour.

After arriving on the scene, wardens say they were met with " a large gathering of youths that were causing a nuisance and drinking alcohol."

According to the warden group, the alcohol was seized due to the youths being underage, and they were dispersed from the patch of land in Durham.

Following the incident, Durham County Council wardens took to social media to share a warning to teenagers who choose to engage in anti-social behaviour and underage drinking.

The warden group also shared an image of cans, bottles and crates of alcohol that had been seized from the teenagers.

In its online post, the group said: "Neighbourhood Wardens SW51 & SW65 were called to Cricket Pavilion in Durham for youths causing a nuisance.
