Gareth Southgate in planning application for Swintsy Hall

Former England football men's manager Gareth Southgate has submitted a planning request for his North Yorkshire home at Swintsy Hall, in Timble, on the outskirts of Harrogate.

Built in around 1575, the £3.25 million late Elizabethan Grade I listed mansion boasts 4.5 acres of manicured gardens and is situated in a picture-perfect setting, on the banks of Swinsty Reservoir and less than 10 miles drive from the centre of Harrogate.

It boasts six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a library, a wine cellar, and a cinema room and an additional smaller cottage on the property.

The former England manager has submitted two applications - for a new water treatment plant and re-build of a stone wall that runs along the outside of the property.

According to the application, the existing wall is to be dismantled and the stones are to be numbered, so the wall call can be replaced as it was. The work aims to enhance the stability of the wall.

The second part of the application involves a new septic tank treatment plant.

Due to the historic nature of the home, the work requires a heritage impact assessment to be submitted, alongside other documents, to ensure that the work completed does not negatively impact on the Grade I listed house or the character of the surrounding area.
