The litter and fly-tipping hotspots in County Durham and Darlington have been revealed after complaints about litter have been reported across the two areas. 

Using the public complaint site FixMyStreet, County Durham and Darlington locations have been identified as the worst.

People can use the online FixMyStreet portal to complain about fly-tipping, potholes, littering, and other issues that impact their streets and communities. 

On the FixMyStreet portal, plenty of complaints about fly-tipping have been made.

As part of this, The Northern Echo has gone through these complaints from the public to identify the streets and areas of Darlington and County Durham that have the most issues. 

Here is what we found:

Four Riggs, Darlington

Writing on FixMyStreet, several people have complained about bottles and cans in an alleyway on the stretch of street. 

Posting about Four Riggs, one person said: "This has been like this for at least six months full of alcohol bottles and cans and takeaway containers.

"This is also a reoccurring problem as it was cleaned about a year ago but very quickly returned to this."

Hercules Street, Darlington

On Hercules Street, one person has noted bin bags dumped in the street, while several other people have noticed litter on the stretch of street.

Complaining, one person said: "Bin bags have been dumped next to my house, either late last night or this morning."

Mowden Terrace, Darlington

Fly-tipping is frustrating at any time, but next to your house is always angering. This person that's complained on FixMyStreet, that a bed had been dumped on the old allotments on Mowden Terrace.

This isn't the first time that this area has been targeted for fly-tipping - with several people complaining about litter on the old allotments.

Cut Throat Lane, Hamsterley

This location has appeared several times on FixMyStreet - including fly-tipping on the grass verge beside the wood on Cut Throat Lane. 

Another incident saw a lot of rubbish ditched by the side of the road.
