A person has been taken to hospital following a crash near the Metrocentre earlier today (Wednesday, August 14).
Northumbria Police have confirmed they received a report of a single-vehicle collision on the A1 Northbound in Gateshead just after 1.30pm.
They also confirmed one person has been taken to hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
Emergency services remain at the scene.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Just after 1.30pm today (Wednesday), we received a report of a single-vehicle collision on the A1 Northbound near the Metrocentre, in Gateshead.

“Emergency services are currently on scene and one person has been taken to hospital with injuries not consider life-threatening.
“The road is currently closed, however diversions are in place. Road users are asked to find alternative routes where possible.”
