A man has been arrested after a taxi was "petrol bombed" overnight in Stockton.
A cordon was erected on Yarm Road on Tuesday after police and fire crews were called to reports of a car "well alight" at around 11.15pm.
Pictures from the scene show how blue and white police tape was strewn across the street - with officers standing guard while passers by looked on.
An eyewitness has told The Northern Echo that a balaclava-clad figure "poured petrol on the car" during the incident - although this has not been confirmed by Cleveland Police.
It is not currently known which firm the taxi belongs to.
The force remains at the scene on Wednesday morning - with a spokesperson confirming that a 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
