A person was pronounced at the scene following an incident on the North East rail network this morning.
British Transport Police has confirmed a person has died on the railway between Newcastle and Hexham.
A spokesperson said they were called to the line following reports of a tragedy at just before 10.15am, adding: "Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

The incident was attended by North East Ambulance Service.
A spokesperson said: "We dispatched four vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team, a double crewed ambulance and a duty officer."
Northern said its services were affected earlier today but are now running as normal.
