A new Thai restaurant in Darlington has received rave reviews after opening in place of a popular Indian restaurant.
Aoithip Thai has opened on Coniscliffe Road in Darlington in place of the former Reema site.
The business does not have a licence to sell alcohol but a sign on the window states that they will allow customers to bring their own liquor- a review on social media suggests that they will provide glasses and ice buckets as needed.
Since opening in June this year, the restaurant has garnered a lot of praise across social media with many patrons expressing their pleasure with the food, service and more.
Speaking on their experience, one customer said on social media that the restaurant was “amazing” and praised the cuisine on offer.
They said: “For our mains, we had prawn Thai green curry, chicken Thai green curry, chicken jungle curry and spicy prawn noodles with vegetables.
“We shared a boiled rice and egg fried rice. Oh my god, the levels of flavour, spices and herbs were just fantastic, we’ll definitely be going back again very soon.
“The owners were so friendly and happy to help explain various dishes.
“They have moved up here from London and I really hope they will have the same success here.”
Aoithip Thai is open for walk-ins and accepts bookings and they are also offering take-out services via Just Eat or popular local food app Darlo Eats.
Reema, a notable venue and highly-rated venue in town, was put up for sale last year and listed at £60,000.

A listing on Rightmove said: "Reema has now come to the open market due to our client's recent relocation out of the country.
"Reema is a well-established Indian restaurant that has recently been refurbished to a high standard.
"The restaurant offers eat-in or takeaway options. Customers can also request a delivery option by ordering over the phone or through their website."
