A pub has announced that it will be closing this weekend over an increase in costs and a reduction in customers in recent times.
The Dubliners, or The Dubs as it is more commonly known, which is based on Bridge Street in Thornaby, revealed on Monday (August 12) that it would be handing the keys back to the brewery on Sunday (August 18).
Citing the rising costs of running the pub and the number of customers falling over time, the venue put out a post on social media to announce the sad news to its regulars.
The post read: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce that this Sunday, August 18 we will unfortunately be closing our doors and handing the keys back to the brewery.
"This decision has not been made lightly and has been very difficult to come to terms with.
"However, with the current economic situation, the decrease in footfall and the increase in costs by the brewery it is just not feasible for us to carry on trading.
"We have gotten to know many great people and we hope shortly we get to meet again."
The post added: "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you kindly to everyone who visited us, your support has been one of the greatest and we will forever be grateful for you all.

"With that said, please join us for a final time this week, even if it’s just for a quick pint.
"We hope to see as many of you as we possibly can before we close our doors for one final time."
After revealing its closure, people have been sharing their memories of The Dubs, with one person saying: "I'm sad to see yet another pub closing doors. Hope you and your staff find another job soon.
Another added: "There’s only one thing left to do on Friday. We party like it’s 1999 and see it out in style."
