The roll-out of King Charles III 50p coins is in full swing and coin collectors have started trying to sell sought-after collectables on eBay.

One of these has now been sold in Chaddesley Corbett for a huge sum after its seller found the King Charles III Atlantic Salmon 50p Coin, 2023.

The seller is one of the collectors who made nearly £20 profit this week after selling a single Atlantic salmon 50p coin.

The coins had sold for £18 - 36 times its face value.

The buyer also had to fork out £2.70 for postage.

Another seller, from Kidderminster, had sold an entire bag of Atlantic salmon 50p coins for nearly £200 in April.

Royal Mint first issued the coin in 2023.

The Atlantic Salmon coin has been dubbed by the online coin site Copes Coins as one of the "most talked about coins in the coin community".

A spokesperson for Copes Coins said: "The current mintage rumours estimate that only 500,000 of these coins were released into general circulation in November 2023.

"Since then, these coins have become much harder to find in your change, and prices on online marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon have continued to rise, fuelling the speculation that the 2023 Atlantic Salmon 50p is to become one of the rarest coins to enter circulation in the last 15 years."

What are the rarest coins collectors look out for?

There is a lot of money to make from checking your purse, wallet or down the back of the sofa to see if you have a rare coin.

Error coins have been known to sell for a huge profit on eBay or at auction.

The rarest coins include the Christmas-themed coin, a 20p coin with a rare Royal Mint error, and the 50p coin from the 2012 Olympic Games.
